Earwitness

For whoever received a report pack

Verify an Earwitness pack

Every Earwitness report pack carries a verification code on its cover and in the footer of each page. This page is where that code gets checked.

The automatic checker is not running yet. Earwitness is still in testing and no packs have been issued to the public. Until the checker is live, email the code to admin@earwitness.com.au and we will check it by hand and reply in writing. We would rather tell you this than show you a box that pretends to work.

What a verification result means

Three answers are possible, and they are deliberately different from one another.

Verified

The record matches what was sealed, and the independent timestamp shows when that happened. It does not mean the contents are true — only that nobody has altered them since.

Altered

A sealed item's contents have been replaced since sealing. This is the answer that should make you ask questions.

Missing file

An attachment is no longer present. That is not tampering, and is not reported as such — a resident who deleted their own letter is not a forger.

Sound levels in a pack are graded. Anything marked indicative is an uncalibrated phone reading and is not a basis for comparison against a statutory limit. See the verification guide and the notes for officers.

Send us a code

Email admin@earwitness.com.au with the verification code and, if you have it, the date on the pack cover. You do not need an account, and there is nothing for your authority to buy or install.

Verification records are kept for at least seven years from the day a pack was built, so a pack lodged today can still be checked years from now.
